Joseph P. Monzo, Project Specialist, joined Phoenix Advisors in 2019 following decades of public service. He has served as Chief Financial Officer in several NJ municipalities, as Deputy Municipal Manager, and as Deputy Director and Acting Director of the NJ State Division of Local Government Services. Joe's extensive expertise in municipal financial and operational matters provides the platform to coordinate delivery of critical elements of the firm's SMART service, a sensible package of services that feel like an extension of clients' finance office. Further, Joe leads specialized consulting projects and assists local Finance Officers in understanding and meeting obligations arising from everchanging regulatory initiatives. Throughout his career, Joe has been a helpful resource to his municipal colleagues, a regular speaker at professional conferences, and served as an adjunct professor for Rutgers University in its Master of Public Administration curriculums.
